  • Young Leaders (including Lone Young Leaders)
  • Female members of Joint Scout and Guide Units
  • Young Guiders, Advisers and Commissioners who choose to participate in the section programme

  • British Youth Council delegation members
  • Female LINK members.

You can find out more information about all of these and other opportunities available to the Senior Section on the Senior Section web site.

The Senior Section Programme

During her time in the Senior Section, a young woman participates in a programme known as Look Wider, which is based on the principles and methods of Guiding. It is designed to appeal to all young women and offers fun and flexibility to suit the individual. The programme is also linked to a variety of recognised qualifications or awards, both within and outside Guiding. The opportunities and challenges which it offers can be followed by a group or by individual members. The choice is made by the members themselves.

As in the other sections, the Look Wider programme is based on the Eight Point Programme followed by all youth sections, but with some minor differences. For the Senior Section, therefore, the Eight Points are known as Octants:

  • Service in the community
  • Creativity
  • International
  • Out-of-doors
  • Independent living
  • Personal views
  • Sport and fit for life
  • Leadership
