Remembrance
Day
By Amy Snow, aged 11, a Scout from 1st North Cray.
Hearts
beating fast we’ve made it here at last.
I look at the other men I wish I was back home again.
All their eyes are filled with fear and some men shed a tear.
We sit and watch and wait.
I’ve got my best friend sitting next to me, he is my mate
Its starts to rain if only I could feel the pain
I slip but manage to take a grip
We all get ready our weapons steady
I look at my friend nothing is happening why won’t this anticipation
end.
Then the fighting starts then we all march into battle at last
I know I wanted this battle to start but now I want it to finish at last
I can hear planes thunder across the sky and bombs flying high
My breathing is getting lower my heartbeat is getting slower
A
little girl licking an ice cream cone looks confused
as she reads her grandfather's name on the head stone
You knew what it was like you’ve been there right through the fight
A brother and sister fight over a toy but end up sharing and playing with it
laughing with joy
Who knew that a little disagreement from one country to another could hurt
so many children, women and men.
Lets hope everyone will stay friends. Lets pray that history does not repeat
its self again
