Investors
In People, by Alison Bruce - County Commissioner.
I am delighted to tell you that our Guiding County,
Greater London Kent, has been awarded the Investors
In People Standard. To gain this nationally recognised
award many people kindly gave up their time to meet
and speak with the assessor. It was their contribution
that led him to decide that:
- The
level of commitment to peoples training and
development is of a good standard and recognised
as such by
personnel.
- People
have a good understanding of their roles and
are clear about how they
contribute to the work of
the County
- Induction
of new staff and those with new duties is taken
seriously
- Communication,
although described as lengthy is robust and
effective, allowing
for information to flow in
both directions
- People
are encouraged to develop into new areas and
take on roles
with new responsibilities
- Senior
leaders are considered to be accessible and
approachable
The fact that we have been awarded this Standard
following our initial assessment is a great tribute
to members of our Programme and Training Team, Adult
Support members, the Outdoor Activity Team and all
the other advisers who are on hand to support us all
in our County. I should also pay tribute to all those
who, in the past, have played a part in making the
County what it is today.
I am only too well aware that we are not perfect!
But for a brief moment do allow yourselves to glow,
and be proud that we have been recognised as striving
to have and maintain good standards of training and
communication.
