Civic Parade

There will be a parade to celebrate the incoming Mayor of the London Borough of Bexley on Sunday the 27 th of June which you are all invited too! Past years have seen a small contingent of uniformed groups marching along the Broadway to Christ Church for a short ceremony and then marching back again. Let us thank the Council, for ten years of funding, by all coming along in uniform with your flags held high. Your respective Commissioners will be informed about the times and details so come along and support the parade. Afterwards, in the Civic Suite, there will be refreshments and a chance to meet the Mayor.

Climbing Wall

Thamesmeads newest leisure facility is opening its doors as a birthday venue. People can now book the wall for that special day. Ann Beard, the wall project manager (aged 48) said 'the aim is to offer a fun packed event without the organisational hassle'. Also the wall is being put to good use as part of the GCSE sports syllabus. Already one school has decamped to the new facility to learn how to use equipment, climb and abseil. Sport in Education has changed to reflect the ever expanding range of activities that now occupy a growing position at National, International and Olympic levels. From knot tie-ing to working with other climbers and a video assessment, completion of the course can provide 40% of the marks required for the GCSE sports exam.

For more details of booking the wall contact Ann (aged 48) on 020 8320 4494
